Gotham 5 Seasons.
I can easily recommend this series that just left Netflix for a number of
reasons. I was surprised that I stuck with it for 5 seasons considering that
there were 22 episodes all nearly an hour in each season. I’m not a big Batman freak but I was caught
up by it because of the swell over the top performances and especially by the
superb production values including a lot of filming in the streets of New York
New York. The cast as I said was good and attractive with the star of the show
played by Ben McKenzie who is a macho man of the Gotham police force and who
rises and falls in the ranks over the long time span of the series.
He battles it out with many villains some so far fetched and fantastic and
others so femme fatale and fabulous. McKenzie
plays the tormented Jim Gordon who is a good cop in a very bad city and his
life and story runs parallel to that of the young Bruce Wayne whose famous
story begins when his parents are murdered in an alley one dark and gloomy
Gotham night. Bruce is protected by Alfred his man servant and of course will
grow up to be our Batman, but that’s where the series comes to a close.
First shown on the Fox network it’s
pretty tame in its language but not in the violence which even though is
cartoon like is still way out there. The cast is big, very big and is peppered
with some famous or near famous actors among which Jada Pinkus Smith makes a
very fierce villain. I also liked Robin Lord Taylor as the “Penguin” Cory
Michael Smith as Edward Nygma and Cameron Monaghan as The Joker all ruthless and funny. Also look for Carol Kane
as the Penguin’s mom and B.D. Wong as a
crazy doctor.
