June Leaf

 I can easily recommend the large June Leaf retrospective now on at the Grey Art Gallery in its new home in the East Village. I am especially impressed by her sculptures mostly figurative that are small and move through their spaces like acrobats or circus performers and her strange constructions of made from tossed about pieces of junk that she turns into wonderful contraptions and mysterious machines. She also did lots of paintings and some of them are colorful dense and rich, the same for her drawings. But its her sculptures that naturally speak to me. Very nicely installed and admission is free, so what's not to like?
