Robert Grosvenor 1937-2025

I am sad to learn today of the passing of an old pal of mine Robert Grosvenor. I knew him in the early 70's but haven't kept in touch with him for all these intervening years. My bad. I thought highly of him, and loved to hang out with him, as we were so different, but he loved my art and I felt the same about his work. He was a nice drinker and there were many nights of drinking at max's and other downtown bars. He wanted to trade pieces but I told him his work was too big for me to own, he said he had smaller works, but I didn't follow through, again my bad. His large works were impressive and one drunken night I guess in some bar, he did a doodle like drawing on a paper place mat, and I asked him if I could have it, he said sure, and here it is after all these years stained I like to think of our friendship. I once brought him and a few other artist friends with me to a party at Philip and Dorothy Pearlstein I remember him and the others being so shy around Philip and I later asked why so quiet. They were just overwhelmed by being in his presence. Me I was laughing and carrying on with Philip and Dorothy. That was me. So many memories of this fine dear man. This hurts.
