Sex Education. Netflix. Three Seasons

Sweetly raunchy. The series takes  place at a high school in some far away rural suburb in England that is known for being a hot bed of sexual activities and a student body that is out of control. The students are an attractive lot, never mind they are about 8 years too old to play high school students, they are nice eye candy never the less. There are every kind of sexual identity and gender:  hetro, homo, interracial, trans, and even some with physical disabilities that don’t get in the way of their sexual longings. Nothing is off the table, and anything goes. It was no doubt influenced by those American smutty teen comedies that are still being churned out. Also a big influence would have to include “Glee” but this show is way more bent and sexually explicit. There is a good musical score mostly pop and one storyline involves the kids putting on an x rated musical version of Romeo and Juliet. Fun right? Also around is Gillian Anderson who is the mother of one of the male students and a sex therapist who is more than home on the range if you get my drift. It seems like Anderson is in every series and show right now which is ok with me, believe me I’m not complaining. She is great. The stereotypical roles are here, but are twisted into interesting shapes and sizes including a bully who changes his ways in a big way, the so called bad girl who is a brain and the handsome black swimming champ being raised by his interracial lesbian moms. Into the third season comes the wonderful Jemima Kirk as the new head of the school and is a wolf in passive clothing and turns out to be a scary authoritarian who wants to buckle the students down. Good luck with that one Jemima. There is more much more. The accents can be thick and difficult to make out at times but a minor complaint when you have vulva cup cakes, a hysterical senior bus trip to Paris that ends with someone throwing a sock full of human feces out the bus window (don’t ask) which lands on a speeding car’s windshield and “tasteful” nudity and many chuckles in this very left leaning series. A 4^th season is coming.
