Grace and Frankie

i gave this series a go the other night, and I can't begin to say how awful I thought it was. Its basically a sit com that you might see on the networks. Set mostly in Malibu among the 1% it concerns the lives of the two stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, whose husbands played by Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston are partners in a law firm and who have been lovers for many years. The show opens with them announcing that they are leaving their wives to start a new life with each other. Far fetched for sure, and it's about as light very old cat dung forgotten in the kitty litter box. The writing is stiff and I kept expecting the laugh track to intrude at every lousy joke and silly incident. Fonda looks great and so does Tomlin and they play well together but that's not enough to lift this tired re-tread of lucy and ethel for the 21st century. Both families have grown children who are basically silly and nasty and who give out with the digs every chance the writers give them. I just can't bring myself to watch any more episodes of this dud.
